Treasurer: Mariana Jimenez
Mariana has been running for about 6 months now and never imagined herself
as a runner. A friend invited her to run with the BRR and the rest is history!
Mariana has been truly inspired by the warm welcome she received from
fellow members. We all share the same goal: add running as a part of our
lifestyle, have fun and give our best - no matter what our age!! To Mariana
running is a challenge that she accepts whole heartily. Smile on!!
President: Michelle Esqueda
Michelle is full of boundless energy! She hit the ground running when she
joined the club, fillling in as Secretary on the Board. This year, she's
graduated to Prez. We thought she just wanted to help out last year as
Secretary, but in actual fact she was just trying to pick up on the really good
running tips. If she's running behind you today, WATCH OUT, cuz you're
wearing a target on your back and she's about to pass you.. Go, Michelle!!!
Social / Fun Run Director: Helio Castaneda
Helio is a lawyer by trade, which explains why he started running. Seems
when you tick people off, you better be fast, and I mean lightning fast... It
also requires you to be charming even when you don't feel like it - hence the
assignment to social director.
Race Director: TBD
Uniform Chair: Angie Contreras
Angie is our "Adidas Girl". Loyal to a fault, you can count on her to talk you
into Adidas gear at the drop of a hat. Hey you corporate types - can we
parlay this into an equipment sponsorship??? When not wearing Adidas, it
has to be Dolce & Gabanna...
Secretary: John Edwards
John is a working student enrolled at SDSU and he has been running on and
off for the last 9 years. He enjoys his track workouts because he is addicted
to speed and chocolate. Loves to do hills because they’re speed work in
disguise. John is looking forward to a speedy recovery and the sound of
shoes striking pavement. “To be number one, you have to train like your
number two.” Maurice Greene
Coach / Correspondent: Tony Melchor
Tony has been running since he was a young pup in high school, and is fond
of regaling anyone who'll listen with how cold it was while running in his
home state of Wisconsin. With over 30 years of running experience, Tony
generously shares his knowledge and provides positive energy to any BRR
who wants to benefit from his coaching. At any of the races that we
participate in, Tony will always be at the finish line yelling to bring each and
every BRR across the finish line!!
Vice President / Webmaster: Jane Aitchison
Jane is relatively new to the world of running, but she has literally exploded
onto the scene. Her first race was the Carlsbad 5000 in 2007 where she ran
23:17 and after a year of running and training with the Club her 2008
Carlsbad 5000 time was 20:02. Jane has participated in many races and just
completed her first marathon with a time of 3:35:01 in San Antonio, which
qualifies her to run the Boston Marathon in 2010!!
Member at Large: Ana Maria Gilman
Ana Maria is one of the most dedicated runners you'll ever meet. She shows
up no matter what, often running from her home up on a very BIG hill... If
gourmet cook!), we absolutely adore her!!! Be sure to drop by on our you
monthly Canopy Day and try her home-brewed cinnamon coffee - you'll be
hooked.
Membership Chair: Karen Barros
Karen first started running about six years ago when it became time to “Run
to Live”. A lot has changed since then and in spite of her busy work
schedule, Karen has completed almost a dozen Half Marathons. In June 2007
she completed her very first Marathon and in July she became a Bonita Road
Runner. She has learned that there is nothing better than spending time with a
great group of people!
